Lexington Porchfest Frequently Asked Questions

What's Porchfest, you ask?
It's a fun grassroots community music festival where musicians jam on front porches, patios, driveways, and backyards and you can wander around the neighborhood, soaking up free music and local vibes! It's the perfect chance for talented folks to share their tunes with neighbors and for everyone to rediscover their neighborhood in a fun new way!
Where's the action?
Porchfest happens at amazing volunteer hosts who generously share their space with the whole community in Lexington!
Who's performing?
Anyone who's up for it! From local talents to national musicians, playing everything from folk to techno to polka.
Do I need a porch to host?
Don't get too caught up on the word "porch" – any space that faces the street and lets the audience enjoy the tunes from your property (without blocking the road) is perfect.
Who should come?
Absolutely everyone! Porchfest is a family-friendly gig with a musical flavor for everyone.
Do I need a ticket?
Nope! It's totally free. Catch one band or twenty, stay for a bit or all afternoon!
Got a map or schedule?
Both will be online soon... for an event map and schedule leading up to the big day on September 28, and grab a printed map on the day of the event at our Porchfest HQ (Emery Park).
What about food and drinks?
Bring your own snacks and beverages or support local businesses around Lexington! Just remember to be respectful and clean up after yourself.
Can I bring beer or wine?
Since there's no contained festival area, alcohol isn't sold at Porchfest. When in public, you're subject to usual laws regarding alcohol consumption.
Are dogs allowed?
Follow the usual street and sidewalk rules for your furry friend. Keep in mind, different hosts may have different preferences about pets on their property.
Got a hashtag?
Sure thing! Use #lexingtonporchfest on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to share the fun!
Where can I park?
Street parking is available, but walking and biking are great ways to experience as much music as possible! Please stay off of streets and roadways when you stop to enjoy a performance.
What to bring?
Travel light to hop between concerts, or bring chairs, a blanket, or a picnic lunch if you plan to settle in for a particular performance. Biking is a great option too!
Do musicians get paid?
Organizers, performers, and porch hosts volunteer their time and talents.
Rain plan?
